It is the beginning of Socktober for 2021 and I’ve had a flying start! I’ve decided to turn all of my single socks into actual pairs of socks…
I find sometimes, that I really look forward to seeing how a new sock yarn will look when it is knitted up. But sometimes, such as for sending out my recent newsletter showcasing the beautiful WYS Signature 4ply Christmas sock yarn, I only required one sock of each Christmas sock yarn for the photography, so, now, I want to knit the 2nd for each pair. Then I’ll have a lovely selection of Christmas socks to wear during December! That will be just too much fun!

I’m not going to tie myself to just knitting the 2nd Christmas socks, but I want to allow myself to have some fun knitting whatever sock yarn that appeals to me!

So if I pick up a beautiful ball of sock yarn from the new Opal Schafpate Fascination Collection, I shall give myself the freedom to cast on! Colour 11035 Happy Sheep is a definite front runner! And have you seen the glorious new WYS Signature 4ply Zandra Rhodes Collection, it is utterly delectable!

I know that I shall have some yarn leftover and I’m trying to decide whether to knit shortie socks with it or try knitting a pair of Christmas Frankenstein socks. I’m wondering how successful that would be?

For me, fun sock knitting means not putting pressure on myself to knit X, Y and Z but allowing myself the slightly decadent pleasure of going with the flow… They will all be pairs of socks at some point!

I am looking forward to the pleasure of lots of sock knitting during this Socktober… Why don’t you join me!
I'd love to hear from you. Let me know what you think...
