Reyna Shawl is a lovely pattern designed by Noora Backlund. I think it is an amazing shawl and hard to believe it only used one skein! A perfect project in every way…
It is designed to use one skein of sock yarn in a variegated colourway. I decided to knit my Reyna Shawl using a ball of my Indulgence hand dyed gradient. Indulgence is our lovely new hand dyed gradient 4ply yarn. I think it shows off the delicate analogous colour scheme in this gradient perfectly. All our gorgeous gradient yarns are unique and have a long gradient of colours making it the perfect choice for this style of shawl project.
It is the perfect pattern if you don’t have very much experience knitting lace as it is created with sections of garter stitch and mesh stitch.
I adapted the pattern slightly by repeating a section of garter and mesh as I wanted to use as much of the 100g of yarn as possible. I also blocked the shawl using t-pins and wires on my blocking mat as I wanted to create as large and airy a shawl as possible after blocking.
The brooch is a beautiful oval hand felted and embroidered piece created by Aileen Clarke Crafts. Her work is beautiful and my photo does not do it justice!
I photographed the Reyna Shawl in my bedroom in December as it was a Christmas present for my sister Pip but it does mean the photos are not quite as sharp as I would have liked! Summer colours always look lovely on her, so that was what I was thinking about when I chose this colour for the shawl. This shawl is a reasonably quick project and makes a wonderful present for someone special in your life!

Not to worry if your stitch count is a bit off. As Stephen West says, Just add a YO or a K2tog (whatever is necessary) and it will all come out beautiful! Knitting is supposed to be fun!!!

I just finish the scarf. I loved it but it is very small. I ‘m thinking of doing some crochet around it to make it longer. The mesh was a challenge to do but so please with the final product (except rather small).

Hi I love the pattern however I am having problems when I do the mesh. When I do the RSM I always end up with one extra stitch before I do the yarn over and slip my marker. I have the correct amount of stitches because I have kept up with the count. Can someone please make a suggestion as to what I might be doing wrong.
Thank you LaJuan

To be honest, I don’t worry overly about stitch count in a shawl. If it isn’t finishing quite correctly I always just fudge it.
I love this pattern! I’m on my second one, love my first one so much.
Somehow I have made mistakes, I undid the 3rd mesh part and the stitch marker fell off, now I can’t work out where it needs to be! If I’m looking at it right side what side of the center stitch does it need to be?
Por favor como puedo conseguir el patron paso a paso en español no lo encuentro , y me gustaria hacerlo .Por favor me pueden ayudar .Gracias y un saludo desde Valladolid España.
Hi, I am knitting this lovely shawl now for my daughter, I have just finished row 104,

For my next one I hope to to purchase your Hand Dyed Indulgence gradient yarn.
Itis beautiful.
Hi Cindy
The Reyna Shawl is beautiful! It is designed by Noora Backlund and I just put a link to her pattern in my post. So it is Noora that we all need to thank for providing us with such a pretty shawl pattern… It is such a pretty shawl and so wearable. Have fun knitting your second one! The Indulgence Gradient Yarn is beautiful and works wonderfully well in the Reyna pattern. Thank you for your lovely comment. Happy Knitting, Nicolette
I have tried to knit this shawl twice. All of the photos looks as if the mesh stitch is at the beginning but by following the pattern I am showing garter stitch through row 28. What am I missing?
I followed the Reyna pattern and then repeated the mesh sections until I had used all the 100g of sock yarn. I no longer have the Reyna shawl as I gave it to my sister as a present some time ago.
How cn I get the knitting pattern for this

Hi . I’d love to have a go at knitting the Reyna shawl. I have knitted socks using your pattern and I wondered if this would be a good second project? I see the pattern says 3.5needles, but I suspect it has loads of stitches so what sort of needles do I buy to accomodate all the stitches? Thanks
Hi, The Reyna Shawl is a lovely choice. I used a long circular needle (I have interchangeable needles so often change the cord length as a project progresses). The shawl starts off with a few stitches and then grows gradually. I don’t worry too much about tension/gauge when I’m knitting a shawl as I tend to just keep knitting until it is the size I want or I run out of yarn (whichever comes first). Happy shawl knitting, Nicolette
Hi, can you please help? I would love to knit the Reyna Shawl. Where can I find the pattern and the wool to try this beautiful Shawl?
♥
I really love your Hand Dyed Gradient yarn that you showed on the Reyna Shawl. It is such a breath of spring. I have seen the Reyna done with other yarns and colors but yours is such an eye catcher.
hello , i don’t find this colour . it’s not available ?
Having trouble with the Reyna shawl pattern. How do you get 5 stitches at the end of row 2?
I had the same problem! So I quit making it after a couple of tries.
You got to the 5 stitches on row 1, so row 2 is Knit 1, knit one through the back of the loop, knit 1, slip marker, knit one through the back of the loop, knit 1, 5 stitches total, same as row 1.
The yo’s from the previous row are the 2 additional stitches you need to get to 5 on row 2. After you complete row 1 you actually have the 5 stitches on your needle to complete row 2.
There are no increases on row 2
No, there are not, the increases occur every other row starting with row 1.
I’m missing row one on my pattern it is cast on three then goes to row 2.
Is there any way I can purchase your pattern. I just love the colours and pattern?
