Baldric is a sweater designed by Isabell Kraemer. Baldric is a top-down construction, worked seamlessly in rounds. I used German short rows at the back to shape the neck for a more comfortable fit. However, I still find that it is a bit lower in the neckline than I like in an aran weight sweater.
Sweaters & Cardigans
Tegna
One of my favourite sweaters that I’ve knit is Tegna designed by Caitlin Hunter.
I also think that it is one of the most flattering sweaters that I have knit. It is definitely, my sweater of choice when I want to look great but be comfortable as well![Read More]
Love Note Sweater
The Love Note Sweater is an enormously popular sweater designed by TinCanKnits.
It is a light airy sweater and a pleasure to wear but not on too warm a day as the kid silk will stick to you! For the weight of the sweater, it is actually very warm and cosy.
Chain Link Fair Isle Vest
In August, while I was helping my niece finish quilting her beautiful patchwork quilt, she asked me if I’d knit a fair isle vest for her for Christmas. I said yes, although with a sense of trepidation, as at the time, I had never actually knit a full-size fair isle garment. I’ve knit accessories and Sasha doll-sized fair isle sweaters.
So an exciting knitting journey of discovery began.[Read More]
Turtle Dove Sweater
Turtle Dove is designed by Melissa Clulow for Espace Tricot in Montreal, Quebec. It is a modern sweater style with a long raglan yoke shaping and 3/4 length sleeves which I changed to full-length sleeves in my version.[Read More]
Goldwing Sweater
In 2020, I offered to knit my mum a sweater. I don’t often knit sweaters for other people as it involves measurements and sizing issues. So in June, I cast on the Goldwing Sweater for mum. The Goldwing Sweater is a beautiful design by Jenn Steingass. I really liked the sweater pattern when I first saw it released.
Soldotna
I love Caitlin Hunter’s patterns. I love the easy fit and the fun modern colourwork patterns.
Soldotna Crop is one of my favourites, although I lengthened the body and made the body into an A-line by changing needle sizes as I worked my way down the body section.[Read More]
Ravello Sweater with Hat
I was really loving the different versions of Ravello designed by Isabell Kraemer that showed up in blog posts and on Ravelry, so in July 2017 I cast on the Ravello Sweater.
I chose 3 colours of WYS Essentials DK which is a wonderful machine washable hard-wearing yarn.[Read More]
So Faded Sweater
I cast on the So Faded sweater pretty much as soon as I bought the pattern in May 2017. I fell in love with the So Faded sweater designed by Andrea Mowry as soon as I laid eyes on it.
Fading is the now commonly used term for gradient, blended, ombré, phased or coming from an art background as I did, colour wash as a way of blending different coloured yarns together in a pleasing way. As someone, who has a large collection of single hanks of sock yarn, this technique really appeals to me.[Read More]
Sipila Sweater
When I saw the Sipila sweater designed by Caitlin Hunter of Boyland Knitworks I knew I was going to cast on. I bought the pattern as soon as it appeared on Ravelry. I love Caitlin Hunter’s designs and have knit several of them.
I love almost everything about this sweater. The colour combination is glorious. The colourwork pattern is perfection. The style of the sweater is everything I could have hoped for.[Read More]
